November 2021, I organized, fundraised and helped facilitate a food program in the Dagoretti Slum, Nairobi, Kenya for Tegemeza. I worked closely with St. Theresa High School, and Principle Huphrey Kigana. Through hard work and the help of the St. Theresa staff, we were able to feed over 150 families.
The poorest of the poor have been hit the hardest by Covid, as tourism, business travel, etc has come to a stop. It is a trickle down disaster affecting those at the bottom the hardest. As those jobs disappear and money dries up, all support jobs, day jobs, small businesses, food vendors etc also find themselves without work and money. Many families in the slums are no longer able to feed their children.
