Update on our (previously homeless) single mother. February 2023
Back in early 2022, LCA was able to help a homeless single mother-to-be. LCA built a small roadside shop for her. Eukabeth started selling sausages, french-fries, and tea. LCA provided her the opportunity to become self reliant, supplied on-going training in the running and bookkeeping of a business, provided initial money for start up, some emergency food and needed medical help for her and her healthy baby boy, born in December 2022.
We visited Eukabeth in February 2023. She has been working hard at her business, but missed about a month of work with the birth of her son. She was also encountering difficulties running the shop now that she has an infant. After brainstorming with her, LCA decided to change her shop into a hair salon. Eukabeth had received training in beauty and hair styling/braiding. This would enable her to bring her baby with her to work, in a clean and safe environment.
We hired a carpenter and set up her salon. LCA is pleased to announce that after a very slow start, she has started to gain some customers. Good luck Eukabeth, and we will keep you posted on her progress.
